The portion of unprinted paper that surrounds a stamp.

Mint Hinged: mint stamp to which a hinge or stamp mount has been applied

MICHEL

German worldwide stamp catalogue.

MINT

Never used stamp with perfect gum.

MLH

Mint Lightly Hinged: stamp to which a hinge has been applied; in this case the gum disturbance is light.

MNH

Mint Never Hinged: stamp to which has never been applied a hinge or stamp mount. Its gum is perfectly new.

MODERN

Philatelic period from the end of Second World War to 1969, year of the man in the moon.

Stamp printed in many colours.
